The New Tobacco 21 Law In The US Says You Must Be 21 To Buy Tobacco

The Food and Drug Administration has just passed a law that says you must be 21 years old to purchase tobacco products. This new tobacco age may sound like a great idea to many people, but the truth of the matter is this is a bit extreme. Especially when you consider the fact that you can sign up and go to war at the age of 18.

This means that many new recruits could not even buy or light a cigar to celebrate their enlisting in the military. This law does not change much, other than the fact that the United States is pushing to limit tobacco sales by increasing the tobacco 21 age.

This new law seems to reflect the dangers of vaping, however, there has been very little research that actually portrays the dangers of this new trend.

Consider the fact that people have been smoking cigars for hundreds of years, and now the age has been increased to attempt to prohibit new smokers from making a personal choice. This just seems a little unprecedented, and it will greatly affect the freedoms and choices of all Americans.

This tobacco 21 age is very similar to the drinking age being raised in the 1980s. The law did not actually stop anyone from consuming alcohol. However, it did create a situation where people were breaking the law and being penalized without just cause.

Therefore, the only thing that will come from the new FDA regulation is the fact that many people will be charged and fined for making a personal choice simply because they do not meet the new tobacco age. This is the first step to impeding our rights even further.

When you consider the fact that you graduate high school at the age of 18, can work a full-time job, purchase a long gun, and make decisions for yourself, it seems a little ironic to say that you must now be 21 years of age before you are allowed to legally purchase tobacco products.

It is important to remember that once your rights begin to be impeded or taken away that you are losing your freedoms in the so-called land of the free. As many laws are being lessened, it is apparent that other laws are making it harder to make a personal choice.

In many states you can purchase marijuana at the age of 18, so here is yet another dumbfounding fact. There really is no understanding in regards to why the FDA would approve such legislation, but the fact of the matter remains that the tobacco age has been raised from 18 to 21 years of age.

At this point, there is nothing that can be done in regards to the new law. However, it is important to understand that you can face penalties and possible jail time if you opt to smoke a cigar or use any other tobacco products before you reach the new tobacco 21 age.

Just remember that you can serve in the military, purchase marijuana in many states, start your own family, and go to college at the age of 18; but you no longer have the right to choose if you want to smoke tobacco products until you turn 21 years of age.
